ESPN’s FPI predicts B1G West champ following Week 5 action

ESPN’s FPI is back after what took place in Week 5 in the B1G. The race for the division got even closer on Saturday.
Minnesota was shocked by Purdue at home after a 4-0 start to the season. The Golden Gophers are now 4-1 after the 20-10 loss. Illinois humbled Wisconsin in its B1G home opener in Bret Bielema’s return to Madison as a head coach.
Iowa lost to Michigan in Week 5. The Hawkeyes are now 5-2 in their last seven games against AP Top 5 teams at Kinnick Stadium.

Minnesota still has the best odds after losing to Purdue in Week 5. Illinois is the only other one-loss team in the division, but still doesn’t have great odds.
Purdue, Iowa, and Wisconsin are in the top 5 for the best chances to win the division as well. The Boilermakers and Hawkeyes will need Minnesota to slip up in one of its recent games to have a chance.

- Minnesota: 41.7%
- Purdue: 31.6%
- Illinois: 15.3%
- Iowa: 6.8%
- Wisconsin: 4%
