ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome of CFP National Championship

We are quickly approaching the conclusion of the College Football Playoff with what is shaping up to be an epic matchup.
The CFP National Championship is set for Monday between two undefeated teams in LSU and Clemson. LSU advanced to the Final after an epic performance against Oklahoma while Clemson took down Ohio State in a hard-fought game with a bit of controversy.
So far, we know that a lot of serious betting money has been placed on LSU in the showdown between two sets of Tigers. That is not too surprising considering how Ed Orgeron’s squad looked in the Peach Bowl with Heisman winner Joe Burrow at the helm.
Despite the betting money, ESPN’s FPI is predicting that Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers repeat as national champions. Here’s what the FPI is predicting in terms of win probability:
- LSU (44.2%) vs Clemson (55.8%)
It will definitely be a battle of contrasting profiles come Monday. Based on the FPI, LSU has the top-ranked offense. Meanwhile, Clemson has the top-ranked defense.
Which team will take home the trophy in New Orleans?
