ESPN's FPI predicts outcome of Illinois-Nebraska Top 25 B1G matchup
ESPN’s FPI has predicted the result of a Top 25 B1G contest between Illinois and Nebraska. The No. 24 Illini and No. 22 Cornhuskers meet in Lincoln as both teams look to improve to 4-0 on the young season, with the Huskers a healthy 69.3 percent favorite to win according to the FPI.
The Illini are perfect so far through 3 games, shutting out Eastern Illinois 49-0 to start the season before adding a 23-17 win over Kansas and a 30-9 victory over Central Michigan. They are 3-0 for the first time since 2011 and are ranked for the first time since 2022, as Luke Altmyer has hit on just under 70 percent of his passes while throwing for 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
The Huskers haven’t been ranked since 2019 as Matt Rhule has his team off to their first 3-0 start since 2016. True freshman Dylan Raiola, one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting cycle, has 670 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 1 interception to his credit in 3 games and is just shy of a 74-percent completion rate. On Saturday, he was 17-of-23 for 2 touchdowns and an interception in a win over Northern Iowa.
Kickoff between the Illini and Huskers is set for Friday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
