ESPN's FPI predicts outcome of Illinois vs. Iowa in Week 12
ESPN’s FPI is predicting the outcome of a suddenly crucial B1G West showdown. That showdown is between Illinois and Iowa with a lot on the line in Week 12.
Iowa is now 8-2 on the season and has responded from some of its struggles to clinch a share of the B1G West. Another win would send the Hawkeyes to Indy as the outright division champion.
Meanwhile, Illinois has also responded with a pair of wins since a loss to Wisconsin to reach the doorstep of bowl eligibility. A win guarantees the Illini a bowl game and would push the West outcome to Week 13.
As for Saturday’s game, Iowa is a 3-point favorite at home and the FPI sides with the Hawkeyes for this one. The FPI gives Iowa a 75% chance of securing the win and clinching the division outright. Fans can head to ESPN Bet to get in on those odds for the weekend.
Despite the FPI outlook, the Hawkeyes could be down a significant contributor for Saturday’s game. It was reported Wednesday that Cooper DeJean sustained an injury in practice, and that injury is expected to keep him out for the rest of the regular season.
As for Illinois, Bret Bielema might have a QB decision on his hands. Luke Altmyer could be cleared to return this week, but John Paddock threw for 500 yards in Altmyer’s place during a Week 11 win over Indiana.
