ESPN's FPI predicts outcome of Indiana-Maryland matchup in Week 5
ESPN’s FPI is predicting the outcome of college football games in Week 5. That includes a B1G showdown between Indiana and Maryland while the Terrapins look to improve to 5-0.
So far, the Terrapins have never started the season 5-0 during Mike Locksley’s tenure with the program. The best start under Locksley was a 4-0 mark during the 2021 season.
On the flip side, Indiana is back at .500 with a 2-2 mark but a number of areas to clean up following Week 4. It took 4 overtime periods for the Hoosiers to finally outlast Akron with a 29-27 win.
To no surprise, Maryland enters the matchup as a heavy favorite with the FPI giving the Terrapins an 82.9% chance to win this weekend. Maryland is also the betting favorite at -14 with an over/under set at 50 for the game. Fans looking to get in on those odds can use our BetMGM Maryland promo code to get started!
On paper, the Terrapins appear to be a matchup nightmare for the Hoosiers. Maryland is averaging just over 450 yards of offense per game and has been balanced with 166.8 rushing yards per game. That number is about spot on to what the Indiana defense is allowing on the ground through 4 games.
When it comes to Tom Allen’s Hoosiers, any hopes of getting to a bowl game will require some upsets, and the schedule does not get any easier down the road.
Saturday’s game is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on BTN.
