ESPN's FPI predicts outcome of Michigan State vs. Rutgers in Week 7
ESPN’s FPI is predicting the outcome of the Week 7 slate of college football, that includes a pair of programs on opposite trajectories this season in Michigan State and Rutgers.
The two sides face off in Piscataway this Saturday as the Scarlet Knights are looking to edge closer to a bowl birth this season. Meanwhile, the Spartans have a host of issues on and off the field and are mired in a 3-game losing streak.
As for Saturday’s game, Rutgers enters as a -5 home favorite and is given a 63.2% chance of walking away with the win against Michigan State. Fans looking to get in on those odds can use Tradition’s Michigan sports betting promo code.
Rutgers enters the game looking for its first win in the series since 2020, and Michigan State holds an 8-1 advantage in the series since 2014. However, recent history is not necessarily helpful for this year’s meeting.
The Spartans are dealing with some off-field issues related to Mel Tucker’s suspension and eventual firing by the program. MSU is also 0-3 in Power 5 games this season, losing every game by 10+ points.
Meanwhile, Rutgers is 4-2 in a rebound season for the program and needs 2 wins to get to bowl eligibility. While that is an achievable goal, the Scarlet Knights will need to take care of business against MSU and Indiana before a November schedule that includes Ohio State, Iowa, Penn State and Maryland.
Saturday’s game is set for 12 p.m. ET on BTN.
