ESPN’s FPI has its pick for Week 9’s game between Penn State and Wisconsin in Madison.
The Nittany Lions, 6-0 on the season and coming off an open week, are favored to win, but FPI isn’t giving them an overwhelming percentage of victory. It’s still pretty signifcant, though, at 69.9 percent.
Penn State last played in Week 7, defeating USC at the LA Coliseum 33-30 on an overtime field goal. Despite 3 interceptions, Drew Allar threw for 391 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tyler Warren was immense, making 17 catches for 224 yards while also lining up in the run game and, at one point, as a passer.
Wisconsin enters the game at 5-2, 3-1 in the Big Ten. The Badgers faced Northwestern in Week 8 and defeated the Wildcats 23-3 in Evanston, ending the day with a 359-209 edge in total offense while holding the Wildcats to just 2-of-14 on third downs. Braedyn Locke threw for 160 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, while Tawee Walkter had 23 carries for 126 yards to pace the Badgers’ run game.
Penn State holds a 11-9 record in the all-time series and has won the last 5 meetings, including a 16-10 win in 2021.
Kickoff between the Nittany Lions and Badgers is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be televised on NBC and Peacock.
