ESPN’s FPI is predicting all the action in Week 6, and that includes a key B1G crossover game in Purdue’s road trip to Maryland.

Heading into the game, the Boilermakers are trying to thrive as road warriors in back-to-back weeks and for the third road trip in the past four games. Last weekend, Purdue ruined Minnesota’s homecoming and undefeated season with an upset in Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, Maryland is 4-1 on the season and is a perfect 3-0 at home so far in 2022. The Terrapins are also carrying a potent offense into the game, making this a particularly intriguing matchup.

Despite being banged up and limited in practice, Purdue QB Aidan O’Connell was able to play in Week 5. If he’s able to go in Week 6, the matchup would pit O’Connell vs. Taulia Tagovailoa with those two QBs combining for over 2,600 yards passing this season.

Purdue also brings one of the nation’s leading receivers into the matchup with Charlie Jones posting 47 catches for 588 yards and 7 TDs through the first 5 games. The Terrapins do not have one receiver jumping off the page this season but have seen 4 receivers eclipse 200 yards so far this season.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the game does have a heavy favorite. The system is giving Maryland a 67.9% chance of getting the win at home in Week 6.

Maryland currently leads the all-time series 2-1 with two of those matchups coming since 2016. Purdue won the most recent matchup, a blowout win in 2019.
