ESPN's FPI predicts the B1G West battle between Iowa and Northwestern
Northwestern and Iowa duke it out this weekend in an effort for the teams to avoid a last place Big Ten finish.
Both team’s have struggled this season, especially offensively. It’s safe to say Saturday probably won’t be much of a shootout. The game is sure to be full of a lot of punting and very little scoring.

ESPN’s football power index is a methodology used to predict how teams will fare, and this week the FPI gives Iowa an 86.7% chance of winning.
While the Hawkeyes have not had a great season, they have at least looked better than Northwestern. They have one major thing going for them that Northwestern does not – defense.
Iowa has been solid on defense this season – excluding the Ohio State game last week. The Hawkeyes will just need to make sure they score more points than Northwestern.
After winning their first game of the season against Nebraska in Ireland, Northwestern has since gone on a 6-game losing streak. With two ranked opponents and some other worthy challengers on the horizon, the chances of becoming bowl eligible are slim for Northwestern, but it could still manage to squeak out a few more wins if things go well on Saturday.
The game, which will be played at Iowa, kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
