Indiana at Rutgers in Week 8 is kind of like a September baseball game between the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers. There’s just not much on the line.

Sure, the winner scores their fourth win and is one step closer to a potential bowl bid, but both are also at the bottom of the B1G East and, let’s face it, have been for some time.

And yet – both teams will be fighting and straining to get that fourth win for the sake of hope alone. For what it’s worth, ESPN’s FPI gives Rutgers a 58.1% chance of depending home turf against the Hoosiers.

If so, that would be Rutgers’ first conference win of the season and only their second since Nov. 13 of last season, also against Indiana.

The Hoosiers have won just one conference game this season, downing Now-18th ranked Illinois 23-20. Since them the Hoosiers have lost 4 straight and are looking to keep it from being 5.

For Indiana, it starts with Connor Bazelak. The Mizzou transfer has thrown for 1889 yards this season with 12 touchdowns, but also has 8 interceptions on the season. Keeping the ball out of the hands of a good, not great Rutgers defense will be key this time around.

The game is set for Noon on Big Ten Network in Piscataway.
