ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of each college football game ahead of each weekend. 11 weeks are already behind us, and the model has now released its prediction for the Week 12 slate.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are heading to Los Angeles to take on the USC Trojans in Week 12. Unfortunately for Cornhusker fans, the model sees the Trojans as a heavy favorite. The Trojans are given an 82.1% chance to win this contest, with the Huskers having just a 17.9% chance to pull off the road upset.

Both of these teams have had disappointing 2024 seasons. The Trojans enter Week 12 with a 4-5 overall record and a 2-5 record in B1G play in their first year in the conference and are 2-5 since starting the season 2-0.

The Huskers, meanwhile, are 5-4 overall and 2-4 in B1G play. Nebraska started 5-1 before dropping 3 straight conference matchups.

An inconsistent offense has plagued the Huskers, but a strong defense has kept the team afloat. The Huskers boast the No. 15 total defense in the country and allow just 308.1 yards per game. The Trojans will be a tough test in Week 12, though, as the team currently averages 437.8 yards per game.

Both of these teams desperately need to win this game if they have any hope of getting to a bowl game. Nebraska still has games against Wisconsin and Iowa after this, while USC still has to play UCLA and Notre Dame.

These teams have played 5 times in history, with the Trojans boasting a 4-0-1 record in those contests. The last time these new conference rivals met was in 2014 in the National University Holiday Bowl.

This game will kick off from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT.
