ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of every college football game.

With Week 4 now in the books, Week 5 has everybody’s attention. The model has released its predictions for Week 5, including a prediction for the B1G matchup between No. 8 Oregon and UCLA.

The model sees Oregon as a big favorite over UCLA, giving the Ducks an 88.9% chance to win, meaning the Bruins have just an 11.9% chance for the upset. These teams have a long history, having played 71 times. The Bruins actually have the advantage all-time, with 39 wins compared to the Ducks’ 32.

However, the Ducks have owned the Bruins recently, winning 9 of the last 10 meetings. The Bruins last got a victory over the Ducks in 2017 when they won 31-14. This Week 5 matchup will be the first between the teams as B1G teams after previously being in the Pac-12.

The Ducks have gotten off to another strong start in 2024, sitting at 3-0 with wins over Idaho, Boise State, and Oregon State. The Bruins, meanwhile, are 1-2, with a win over Hawaii and losses to Indiana and LSU. With 1 conference loss already, the Bruins would love nothing more than to get back on track with a big upset win over the Ducks.

For Oregon, this Week 5 matchup begins a stretch of tough conference matchups. The Ducks will have home games against Michigan State and No. 3 Ohio State before heading to Purdue. No. 19 Illinois and No. 12 Michigan are the other ranked teams remaining on the team’s schedule.

The Ducks and Bruins will kick off from the Rose Bowl on Saturday at 8 pm PT.
