Northwestern will face a 6-3 Minnesota team that just became bowl eligible with win over a struggling Nebraska team last weekend. With a significant boost from Mohamed Ibrahim, the Gophers rallied from a 10-point deficit against the Cornhuskers to take the win.
It doesn’t look to get much easier for the Wildcats this weekend, according to ESPN’s FPI. The index is a methodology used to predict how teams will do in a head-to-head matchup. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Gophers a 91.5% chance of taking home the win on Saturday.
In a matchup dating back to 1892, the Gophers have taken the win 55 times, the Wildcats 36. Minnesota has taken the win in the last 2 meetings in 2019 and 2021.
