ESPN's FPI predicts winner of Nebraska-Rutgers showdown in Week 6
ESPN’s FPI has chosen the team that it thinks will be the winner of Nebraska-Rutgers. The Cornhuskers got their first win under interim HC Mickey Joseph in Week 5.
Nebraska is coming off a 35-21 win over Indiana in Lincoln. The defense was able to limit the Hoosier offense through the air and on the ground. Now they face another B1G East team in Rutgers.
The Scarlet Knights got throttled by Ohio State 49-10 in their last game. Rutgers had 187 total yards of offense in that game. Evan Simon was the starting quarterback against the Buckeyes and finished the game with 87 yards passing with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
After starting off 3-0 to begin the year, Rutgers has run into problems in B1G play. Rutgers lost its B1G opener to Iowa 27-10. Greg Schiano will be hoping that his team can recover and be able to avoid starting 0-3 in conference play like last season.
Nebraska has dominated Rutgers since the Scarlet Knights joined the B1G in 2014. Nebraska is 5-0 all-time against Rutgers. The Football Power Index is favoring Rutgers this time around, however. ESPN’s FPI is giving Rutgers a 54.6% chance to win. Nebraska has a 45.4% chance to beat Rutgers.
Joseph will be looking for his 2nd win as interim HC Friday at 7 p.m. ET on FS1.
