ESPN's FPI predicts winner of the Paul Bunyan Trophy in Michigan-Michigan State rivalry
The game of the week this weekend will be a bitter rivalry clash out of the B1G East.
In Week 9, undefeated Michigan will hit the road and face off against fellow undefeated Michigan State in East Lansing. Both teams are ranked in the top 10, and both are suddenly alive in the division race after a lackluster 2020.
The winner of Saturday’s rivalry contest will maintain position atop the B1G East and will be tied for first with Ohio State, should the Buckeyes take down Penn State. Michigan has won 3 of the last 5 meetings in the series, but Mel Tucker is 1-0 against the Wolverines after an upset in 2020.
Heading into the week, ESPN’s FPI has updated the odds for the contest. Though the FPI does expect a tight battle throughout, it is predicting Jim Harbaugh and Michigan to win and reclaim the Paul Bunyan Trophy. The FPI is giving the Wolverines a 56.0% chance to win on the road.
Who are you riding with for Week 9? Saturday’s kickoff is set for 12 pm EST on FOX.
