ESPN’s FPI projects the winner of Rutgers vs. Minnesota

Minnesota and Rutgers are going in the wrong direction entering Week 9 of the college football season.
This was expected for one of these teams around Week 3. Rutgers won their first 3 games before dropping 3 straight to start B1G play.
Minnesota fared similar. The Golden Gophers rocketed to a fast start behind Mohamed Ibrahim before falling to Purdue in Week 5. Since then, it’s been all downhill. Minnesota has not won a game sine late September.
Crazy how quickly things change for a season.
Anyway, the winner of Minnesota-Rutgers likely earns a bowl bid heading into the postseason. The Golden Gophers likely make it regardless, but Rutgers is in a fight to steal some wins to get to 6.
ESPN’s FPI (Football power rankings) gives Minnesota an 88.5% chance of righting the ship (or canoe?) Saturday at 2:30 in Minneapolis.
A big part of fulfilling that is getting quarterback Tanner Morgan healthy. He was held out of Minnesota’s game against Penn State last week after going through warmups.
Let’s see if the Golden Gophers can get it done against Greg Schiano and company.
