Week 1 of B1G action is right around the corner.

On Monday, ESPN’s Bill Connelly, creator of the SP+ formula, published score predictions for every Week 1 matchup. Here’s a summary of all the predictions involving B1G teams in Week 1:

  • Howard 0, Rutgers 40
  • North Carolina 26, Minnesota 25
  • Eastern Illinois 7, Illinois 40
  • Florida Atlanta 14, Michigan State 26
  • Western Michigan 9, Wisconsin 37
  • UConn 10, Maryland 35
  • Illinois State 0, Iowa 27
  • Indiana State 12, Purdue 42
  • Penn State 34, West Virginia 20
  • Akron 0, Ohio State 56
  • FIU 18, Indiana 35
  • Miami-OH 17, Northwestern 21
  • UTEP 6, Nebraska 34
  • Fresno State 11, Michigan 39
  • Idaho 11, Oregon 59
  • UCLA 36, Hawaii 18
  • Weber State 17, Washington 42
  • LSU 41, USC 31

SP+ projections have the B1G going 16-2 as a conference in Week 1, with USC and Minnesota being the only teams projected to lose their matchups. Connelly’s model does predict a close call for Northwestern, however, with Miami-OH only losing by 4 points.

USC currently sits as 4.5-point underdogs to LSU, but Connelly doesn’t predict the Trojans to cover. The Golden Gophers, however, are favored by 1.5 over the Tar Heels, but Connelly foresees a Tar Heels outright victory.

For the projections, Week 0 games were factored in, but injuries were not. For example, Minnesota’s best 2 offensive players, Darius Taylor and Daniel Jackson, have been dealing with injuries, but SP+ predicts the Tar Heels to win even if those players suit up for the Gophers.

The West Virginia Mountaineers have been a trendy pick to give the Nittany Lions a game, but SP+ predicts the Nittany Lions to win by 2 touchdowns.

SP+ projects Ohio State to defeat Akron 56-0 in Week 1. The Buckeyes are 50.5-point favorites over the Zips in Week 1, per the latest line from DraftKings.
