With the 150th year celebration of college football, ESPN ranked the Top 10 greatest games in the sport’s history.

It’s not an easy list to put together. After all, there’s a lot of source material. But it seems fitting that at the top of the list, there’s plenty of games that featured current B1G Ten teams.

Nebraska, Michigan and Penn State all have a game that landed in the Top 5. The Cornhuskers, by themselves, played in the Top 2. A Nittany Lions game appeared on the list again at No. 8.

Check out the list below:

Years prior to the Alabama-LSU billed “game of the century” the 1971 Nebraska-Oklahoma matchup received the same label when the two met on Nov. 25 in Norman. No. 1 Nebraska entered the contest with a 20-game winning streak and 29 non-losing streak. No. 2 Oklahoma was undefeated as well.

The game lived up to the hype, as Nebraska scored the game-winning touchdown in the final two minutes to win, 35-31.

Fans today would have to be 55 years old to have been seven when that game aired in 1971. Most of ESPN’s audience probably knows little about that contest, but it remains a fitting choice for the title “best game.”
