The college football season is off and rolling with a lot of noteworthy results from Week 2.

Among the positive results in the B1G were Iowa dominating in-state rival Iowa State and Michigan handling Washington in solid fashion in the Big House. On the negative side of things, Ohio State was upset at home by Oregon, producing the first regular-season loss of Ryan Day’s tenure.

Heading out of Week 2, ESPN’s Bill Connelly has updated the SP+ rankings, and there are 4 B1G teams inside the top-10. However, it will likely cause a stir that Iowa – all the way up to No. 5 on the latest AP Poll – is still outside of the top 10.

Here are the B1G teams included in the top 25:

  • 5. Ohio State
  • 6. Michigan
  • 7. Penn State
  • 8. Wisconsin
  • 15. Iowa

For what it’s worth, Connelly explains that the SP+ is “intended to be predictive and forward-facing,” which can often lead to a few confusing rankings, especially early in the season.

Either way, the Hawkeyes have to be feeling good after back-to-back top-25 wins to open the season. We will see if the SP+ gives Iowa a bump down the road.
