Evan Stewart is starting to find his rhythm with Oregon’s offense, and his presence could become even more important pending the status of Tez Johnson. On Saturday, he continued his ascent with one of the best catches you’ll ever see, but it would ultimately get wiped off the board.

Facing Michigan in the Big House, the Ducks have been dominating the flow of the game with a 28-10 lead at halftime. Michigan’s lone touchdown came on a short field off a turnover, but Oregon’s offense continues to operate at a high level behind Dillon Gabriel.

That includes the final drive of the half with Gabriel pushing the unit for more points before the break. He even connected with Stewart with just over a minute remaining from over 30 yards out in epic fashion.

After rolling out of the pocket, Gabriel set his feet and threw toward the back of the end zone where Stewart had separated himself from the coverage. The pass was a bit high, but Stewart was able to soar up with a one-handed grab while also having the wherewithal to get a foot down inbounds.

Replays of the catch showed it was clear Stewart completed the play and was inbounds. The only problem? A flag was thrown for an ineligible man down field by the offense.

Still, the effort by Stewart deserves a nod because it’s hard to pull off a play this clean. Take a look:
