Every single player in the Texas-Oklahoma game issued an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty before kickoff
Here’s something you don’t often see on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday is the day of one of the top rivalry games in college football, as Oklahoma and Texas go head to head in the Red River Rivalry game. With the Sooners solidified as the dominant Big 12 power and the Longhorns on the rise, the bad blood between the two has only heated up.
On Saturday morning, prior to kickoff between the two teams, there was an on-field skirmish. These things happen from time to time on the field, especially before a big rivalry game. But the incident before the game led to some serious consequences.
Everyone on both teams was issued an unsportsmanlike conduct foul. Seriously.
That means that if any player is whistled for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty during the game, they’ll be immediately ejected. It’s an effort to create a fun, clean game this weekend.

Still 30 minutes ’til kickoff, by the way.
And as @ryaber noted, at least one Oklahoma player threw the horns down during the little skirmish. https://t.co/pEZvypW5gG

Now that’s an official taking control of the game early. That may not be the worst thing considering the hatred between the two programs currently.
Still, it’s one unique situation that you don’t see very often. Only in college football.
