Navy is now scrambling to find a new opponent for the Sept. 12 game.

This announcement is the first cancellation involving an FBS program. Games and even seasons at the FCS, Division II and Division III levels have already experienced some cancellations.

Two Division III programs and one Division II school has decided to nix fall sports for the upcoming season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Ivy League is set to make a decision on what the 2020 season will look like next week.

No final decisions have been made regarding the football season at the FBS level. But a cancellation this late in the game certainly isn’t a good sign.
