After a long and exciting first weekend of the college football season, everyone is weighing in with their early season rankings.

SEC Network host and longtime college football analyst Paul Finebaum recently announced his own top five list, highlighting the best teams after Week 1. Though he did have two SEC teams make the cut, he also snuck one B1G team into his list.

Finebaum provided his top five to ESPN’s First Take on Wednesday morning. Here’s how he ranked the best teams in college football:

  1. Alabama
  2. Clemson
  3. Oklahoma
  4. Ohio State
  5. Georgia

The No. 4 spot is fitting for the Buckeyes, who were also No. 4 in the latest Associated Press rankings. Here’s why Finebaum believes Ohio State belongs in that spot:

Everybody knocked them down because of the Urban Meyer situation, but it didn’t matter. They looked really good on Saturday against a lousy Oregon State team. They move up for the time being.

The Buckeyes looked every bit as good as advertised in the 77-31 win over Oregon State on Saturday, even without Meyer on the sideline. The offense was clicking on all cylinders, and was impossible to stop.

Ohio State will be back in action on Saturday, stepping into conference play to take on Rutgers.
