Ryan Day is under fire from fans and media after Ohio State’s loss to Michigan on Saturday afternoon in Columbus.

The Buckeyes were favored by 21 points at home against a hapless Michigan team, but they struggled offensively in this game. Will Howard threw 2 interceptions and the Buckeyes averaged under 5 yards per play for the first time all season.

More importantly, it’s another loss in The Game for Day. He defeated Michigan in his first game in this series back in 2019, but the Buckeyes have now lost 4 consecutive games to their arch-rival.

While the sting of a rivalry loss will last for at least another year, there are other implications for this game as well. Ohio State has now been likely knocked out of the Big Ten Championship Game. Penn State is in the driver’s seat to play for the Big Ten title next weekend, provided it can beat Maryland on Saturday afternoon.

At 10-2, Ohio State is now at the mercy of the College Football Playoff selection committee. Regardless of whether or not the Buckeyes squeeze into the CFP, Day’s job security is certainly at question after a 4th consecutive loss to rival Michigan.
