Believe it or not, the first Division I college football game of the 2020 season is less than a week away. No, it’s not an FBS contest, but instead will feature a pair of FCS schools opening up the year.
Austin Peay and Central Arkansas are set to meet on the gridiron on Saturday, Aug. 29 with a 9 p.m. ET kickoff time. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN.
This weekend was originally scheduled to be Week 0 at the FBS level, but with the COVID-19 pandemic altering plans, this weekend will be highlighted by the FCS showdown. It should be a good one, by the way.
Austin Peay finished last season with an 11-4 record, reaching the FCS Playoffs. Central Arkansas also made a postseason appearance and finished the year with a 9-4 record to close out the 2019 campaign.
Next Thursday, Sept. 3, the FBS season is scheduled to get underway as Southern Miss will take on South Alabama.
