When the first week of the college football season finally arrives, it’s standard for fans to try and digest as many games as they can possibly consume.

It’s that seven-month deprivation of the sport that drives us all to watch any game that’s being aired, even the most uninteresting of matchups.

But there’s some good news for B1G fans. There are a lot of really, really intriguing bouts scheduled for the opening week of the season. And Bill Bender of Sporting News recognized that.

Recently, Bender published his list of 15 games you can’t miss in Week 1. One-third of the list featured contests that included a B1G team.

Here are the B1G games listed in the article:

  • No. 11: Maryland vs. Texas
  • No. 10: Louisville vs. Purdue
  • No. 9: Wyoming vs. Iowa
  • No. 8: Ohio State vs. Indiana
  • No. 2: Michigan vs. Florida

Michigan’s season-opener against Florida is the most interesting matchup for the B1G, hands down. Both teams will enter the contest likely ranked in the top 15 and will be a good early-season gauge of where each team stands.

It will also give either the B1G or SEC bragging rights early in the year, which is always an added bonus.

Ohio State’s trip to Indiana is a big one, too. Opening the year with a conference opponent always ups the stakes. Plus, Kevin Wilson is returning to Indiana after leaving the program for alleged player mistreatment allegations.

The other three games should provide some interest, too. The Jeff Brohm era will kickoff at Purdue against Louisville, where Brohm spent his college years. Iowa will have its hands full with a high-powered Wyoming offense and Maryland will try to get a signature win over Texas.

Yes, all college football games are good in Week 1. Especially for the gluttons of the sport. But in the B1G, the number of quality games are really appetizing.
