Florida State team captain and defensive lineman Marvin Wilson is speaking out, saying that the recent comments new head coach Mike Norvell has made about reaching out to players in the wake of George Floyd’s killing are inaccurate.

Norvell recently spoke with The Athletic, saying that he and staff members have reached out to players individually during over the last two weeks.

“We’ve had a lot of open communication with our team, our players and our coaches. I went back and forth individually with every player this weekend,” Norvell said. “And that was something that was important to me because this is a heartbreaking time in our country.”

Wilson that’s not what happened.

“Man this did not happen,” Wilson wrote on Twitter. He also stated that he and his teammates will not be working out until further notice.

“We got a generated text that was sent to everybody. There was no one on one talk between us and coach,” Wilson said. “This is a lie and me and my teammates as a whole are outraged and we will not be working out until further notice.”

Norvell has not coached a game at Florida State yet. The school has not released a statement on the matter at this time.
