Use your words — and that is what Florida head coach Dan Mullen did, efficiently.

Asked entering halftime of Saturday’s game with Vanderbilt what his message was to his quarterbacks after leading 21-0 over the Commodores at the half, he told them to “play better.”

A follow up on Vandy having 50 plays on offense, with no points Mullen was asked how he assessed his team’s first half, defensively — Mullen said, “Awful.”

So far in the third quarter, Gators QB Emory Jones has seemed to respond, hitting Dameon Pierce for a 61 yard touchdown on the opening drive of the second half.

The Gators defense did better as well to open the half, forcing a 3-and-out on Vandy’s first drive. Jones did the job again after getting the ball back, finding Jacob Copeland for a 25-yard TD pass to put the Gators up 35-0.

The defense was at it again in the next drive, intercepting Vandy QB Ken Seals on a 3rd-and-9 play, to set up yet another Gators touchdown just three plays later on a Pierce 1-yard TD run.

Halfway through the 3rd period, the Gators are up 42-0.
