Former Oregon wide receiver Ryan Pellum was arrested in Springfield, Oregon, on a charge of assault with the use of a firearm, according to a report from KEZI 9 News.

Pellum is accused of pistol-whipping a person in Long Beach, California on Christmas Day. A probable cause affidavit obtained by KEZI 9 News alleges that Pellum caused an injury to the victim’s head that required stitches, and alleges he fired the gun twice in an unknown direction.

According to the report, Eugene police contacted Pellum at an apartment in Springfield on Wednesday, where he allegedly told police he was aware of the warrant for his arrest.

Bail was posted by an unknown person on Thursday after Pellum waived extradition, according to the report.

Pellum faces a nationwide extraditable warrant and must return to California prior to a Jan. 23 court date. A university spokesperson told KEZI that Pellum was no longer enrolled at Oregon.

He entered the transfer portal on Jan. 6.

He signed with Oregon as a 4-star recruit out of the 2024 class. The Long Beach native was a USC commit before flipping his pledge to Dan Lanning during the Early Signing Period in 2023.

He played limited snaps for the Ducks this past season, seeing time on offense in just 2 games. Pellum made 4 appearances in total — mostly on special teams — and preserved a redshirt.
