It’s hard to believe that the midseason point of the season has already arrived. But now that we’re here, everyone is handing out a little hardware at the halfway mark.
Monday, Sporting News writer Bill Bender released his midseason All-America team, and a couple B1G players made the list. Four, to be exact.
The conference had just one representative on offense, while three B1G defenders made the midseason team. Here are the players that Bender tabbed as All-Americans through seven weeks:
- Saquon Barkley, Penn State RB
- Nick Bosa, Ohio State DE
- Josey Jewell, Iowa LB
- Devin Bush, Michigan LB
Barkley is the obvious choice at running back, as he’s one of the leaders in the Heisman race at this point in the year.
Jewell and Bush have been staples at linebacker for Iowa and Michigan respectively. Jewell leads the B1G in tackles, posting 70 stops through the first six games. Bush has been all over the field, recording 49 tackles, 4.5 sacks and six pass break-ups.
Bosa leads the conference in tackles for loss with 10 and has also recorded four sacks.
All four players have had tremendous seasons thus far and will likely make their way to the All-America team at the end of the year, as well. To see Bender’s full midseason team, you can visit the Sporting News site here.
