The Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List has been narrowed down to a handful of quarter-finalists after passing the halfway point of the 2017 season.
A long list has been narrowed down to 20 names for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, which honors college football best defensive player in performance and character. Four of those players hail from the B1G.
The four quarter-finalists for the award include: Josey Jewell, Iowa; Marcus Allen, Penn State; Jason Cabinda, Penn State; and Tyquan Lewis, Ohio State.
According to the website, the Lott IMPACT Trophy will narrow down the list of 20 names to a semi-finalist list on Nov. 8 and four finalists will be announced on Nov. 28. The winner will be announced on Dec. 10. Schools of the four finalists will receive $5,000 for its general scholarship fund while the school of the winner will earn $25,000 towards its general scholarship fund.
IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
B1G players have taken home the Lott IMPACT Trophy Award each of the last two seasons. Last year, Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers was the winner. Penn State’s Carl Nassib took home the honor in 2015.
