Being named a preseason All-American is one of the highest individual honors for a player in the offseason. A few from the B1G have garnished some national attention as the start of the season is only a few weeks away.

Sports Illustrated released its preseason All-Americans for the 2017 season. Four B1G names made the list, with two of those coming from Ohio State. Here were the four players tabbed as first-team All-Americans entering the year:

  • RB: Saquon Barkley, Penn State
  • TE: Troy Fumagalli, Wisconsin
  • C: Billy Price, Ohio State
  • LB: Jerome Baker, Ohio State

All of those names belong on that list. Was anyone left out, though?

Sports Illustrated also dug into second-team All-Americans, where five more B1G names were mentioned:

  • TE: Mike Gesicki, Penn State
  • G: Sean Welsh, Iowa
  • DL: Rashan Gary, Michigan
  • LB: Josey Jewell, Iowa
  • LB: Tegray Scales, Indiana

In total, nine from the conference were mentioned as either first-team or second-team preseason All-Americans. Penn State, Iowa and Ohio State all had two players, while Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin each had one.
