Four from B1G tabbed as semifinalists for Bednarik Award

Four players from the B1G have been included as semifinalists for the Bednarik Award which was released on Monday.

The award narrowed it’s list down to just 18 semifinalists after Week 9, with four B1G players making the cut. Here were the representatives from the conference:

  • Josey Jewell, Iowa LB
  • Josh Jackson, Iowa CB
  • Nick Bosa, Ohio State DE
  • Maurice Husrst, Michigan DT

Jewell is the B1G’s leading tackler, posting 81 stops and 9.5 tackles for loss this season. He’s also recorded an interception and broken up four passes. Jackson, the other Hawkeye, has recorded two interceptions and 15 pass break-ups this season.

Bosa has been a force for the Buckeyes up front, tallying 10 tackles for loss and four sacks in his sophomore season. Hurst, from Michigan, also has 10 tackles for loss to go along with 41 total stops this season.

The Bednarik Award is presented to college football’s best defensive player at the end of the season.
