Young’s voting had several surprising aspects, with some B1G additions and exclusions. Young left out Michigan in his top 25 despite the Wolverines being ranked No. 6 in the first Coaches Poll of the 2022 season and making it to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history last season.

Young has included both Iowa and Minnesota were not a part of the first Coaches Poll.

Finally, Young has included Texas at No. 20 despite accounting for a losing record of 5-7 record last season. Young has stated he is on the “Texas is back” train.

Young has Alabama as his preseason No. 1.
