FOX Sports’ Stewart Mandel ran through the biggest Big Ten games of the week this weekend and picked the winners against the spread. The three games he highlighted were Ohio State-Oklahoma, Michigan State-Notre Dame and Nebraska-Oregon.

Ohio State at Oklahoma: Oklahoma +1.5

“Ohio State’s defense could not have looked better against Bowling Green and Tulsa, but this is the first road game in a hostile atmosphere for a lot of inexperienced players,” Mandel said. “Bob Stoops is 97-8 at home. Oklahoma bounces back from the Houston loss.”

His prediction: Oklahoma 27, Ohio State 24

Oklahoma is actually the underdog at home here against the Buckeyes, but I would agree that they should be favored. A 97-8 record at home under Stoops shouldn’t be glossed over because of an extremely inexperienced Buckeyes team.

Michigan State at Notre Dame: Michigan State +7.5

“Texas exposed an inexperienced Irish defense that may struggle to rush the passer this season,” he said. “But Michigan State might not be able to exploit that.”

His prediction: Notre Dame 26, Michigan State 20

Mandel is taking Michigan State plus the 7.5-points, but just barely. I would agree on Notre Dame winning. The Fighting Irish have now found their quarterback in DeShone Kizer, but the Spartans will keep it close.

Oregon at Nebraska: Nebraska -3

“Ducks RB Royce Freeman is a stud, but Nebraska’s Devine Ozigbo and Terrell Newby are also capable and going up against an atrocious Oregon rush D,” Mandel said.

His prediction: Nebraska 42, Oregon 37

Oregon enters this game ranked at No. 22, while Nebraska is unranked but at home. Oregon hasn’t been the same since Chip Kelly left, and once again, I’m agreeing with Mandel that Nebraska should win a close one.
