The B1G is quickly gaining momentum as the top conference in the country.

With the impressiveness of teams like Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska on the field, it’s hard to argue that there is a conference as strong at the top as the B1G is right now. That was reflected in Fox Sports’ New Year’s Six bowl projections after Week 5 of the season.

Writer Stewart Mandel had Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin all reaching New Year’s Six bowl games this season, with the Buckeyes competing in the College Football Playoff as the top overall seed against Washington.

Here’s what Mandel had to say about Ohio State and Michigan:

I moved the Buckeyes up to my No. 1 seed because I now believe they have a better chance of finishing undefeated than Alabama.

Michigan still looks like the second-best team in the Big Ten, but it does not appear yet to be on the same level as the Buckeyes.
