Gary Danielson already facing backlash from Big Ten fans during Week 1 broadcast

Gary Danielson and Brad Nessler are making the switch this fall. After a number of years calling weekly games for the “SEC on CBS,” the duo is now in Big Ten country as a part of the new media rights deal for the league.

That game pits No. 3 Ohio State against Indiana in a conference matchup in Week 1. It is the season opener for both programs with the Buckeyes looking to get back to the College Football Playoff and Ryan Day breaking in a new starting quarterback.

However, it did not take long for a number of Big Ten fans on either side of the matchup to become disgruntled with certain aspects of Danielson’s call. In fact, a number of fans claimed Danielson referred to last year’s Peach Bowl between Georgia and Ohio State as the national championship game.

While it felt that way at times — and TCU proved no match to face Georgia — the Peach Bowl was the semifinal matchup. One Indian fan also scoffed at Danielson’s urge for Hoosier football fans to be patient this fall.
