A University of Georgia baseball player has been dismissed by the program after reportedly yelling racial slurs at Bulldogs’ quarterback Justin Fields during Saturday’s game vs. Tennessee.

Austin Rhodes of WGAC was the first to report that Adam Sasser had been dismissed by the program. According to 247Sports, Georgia Sports Information was able to confirm the report.

Sasser was investigated by UGA for allegedly yelling racial slurs at Fields during the Bulldogs’ 38-12 victory over the Volunteers Saturday. The reports were posted to Twitter and Facebook.

Georgia’s Director of Athletics Greg McGarity issued a statement on the matter Monday.

“We are aware of a reported incident this weekend involving conduct by one of our student-athletes. While we are limited in what we can say about the incident at this time, I want to reemphasize that we do not condone discriminatory behavior. The University’s Equal Opportunity Office thoroughly reviews all reported violations of our Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy to ensure an appropriate response.”

Sasser has appeared in 139 games in his career with the Bulldogs baseball team. He had a .273 batting average with 13 home runs and 60 runs batted in.
