Greg McElroy bumps Ohio State ahead of Michigan in latest top 10
Greg McElroy has updated his personal top 10 coming out of Week 3 with a major docket of games in store this weekend. As we prepare for those games, McElroy touched on the criteria for his poll.
“This is going to change drastically next week based on performance. There are some great matchups coming up here in Week 4, so take this for what it is right now,” said McElroy. “The way I use the poll is this is a snapshot, a picture, a photograph of the college football landscape based on what we know up to this point.”
Georgia is still the No. 1 team on his list followed by Washington, Florida State and Texas in the top 4. In regard to the B1G, McElroy has Ohio State as the first team from the league at No. 5, bumping the Buckeyes ahead of Michigan.
“Quarterback now, perfect. Feel great about where they’re at,” said McElroy with the position now solidified. “Defensively though, what was the big knock against Ohio State last year? It was their defense down the stretch. Well, they have clearly addressed that issue.”
For Michigan, McElroy noted the Wolverines looking a bit inconsistent on the line of scrimmage as the reason for the drop of Jim Harbaugh’s program.
“The offense has yet to really look consistent along the line of scrimmage. Michigan’s bread and butter is running the football,” McElroy explained. “JJ McCarthy has been outstanding in the first 2 weeks of the season until he wasn’t this past weekend… So I dropped them down because the identity I’ve come to know about Michigan is that they are a run-first outfit… the offensive line doesn’t look quite as dominant as they were a year ago.”
Regardless of McElroy’s assessment, Michigan is still the betting favorite to win the league in terms of Big Ten Championship odds. Ohio State is hot on the heels of the Wolverines though, and anyone looking to take part in those odds can use our Michigan Online Casinos promo code to get started!
