The B1G will have some meaningful contests this weekend. None will be more significant than the showdown between division leaders No. 4 Ohio State and No. 19 Purdue.

Greg McElroy offered his betting thoughts on the contest during the McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning podcast. McElroy believes Purdue will put up a fight vs. Ohio State.

But he also looked ahead a bit. McElroy added that Michigan could snap its 8-game losing streak vs. Ohio State when the rivals meet in the regular-season finale on Nov. 27.

“I think (with) Ohio State, the theory they are improved defensively is a misguided one. I would go as far as to say that right now I’m not sure Purdue’s the team to do it because I don’t like the matchup, however I would have told you in 2018 I didn’t like the matchup that night either and it obviously got fairly sideways in favor of the Purdue Boilermakers. They have good personnel, and if Ohio State wants to play a bunch of man, then Purdue will feast. But I’m telling you, this Ohio State team, they better be real careful against the Michigan Wolverines. I’ll just tell you that as a little bit of a warning shot across the bow. Give me the points and the Wolverines for the limit based on what I’ve seen on tape. Ohio State, their run defense, a lot of things to iron out. Still very unsound, and against a team that can give you a lot of looks in the run game, I’d be concerned if I was a Buckeye fan. But, everything can be fixed fairly quick here very soon.”

McElroy asked Chris “Bear” Fallica, who was on the podcast as a guest, about the game and where he’d guess the opening line is set. At 6.5, a number McElroy gave, Fallica was hesitant to pick either way.

“I think it’s one of those games where Michigan needs to do it in order for me to believe and buy in,” Fallica said. “They’ve been in a position a couple of times at the Big House, but they’ve lost 15 of 16. I used to joke about it was a helmet game for Ohio State on the other end with the losing streak. It’s a helmet game now (for Michigan).

The Buckeyes, 8-1 overall on the year, have two games on the docket before traveling to Ann Arbor. They’ll have to contend with Purdue this weekend—kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC—and then battle Michigan State (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) on Nov. 20.

Michigan has road games against Penn State (6-3, 3-3 Big Ten) and Maryland (5-4, 2-4 Big Ten) left before it takes on Ohio State.
