HBO Hard Knocks is about to return, and the Detroit Lions will be front and center in 2022.

The popular documentary series follows an NFL team throughout training camp in preparing for the regular season. Hard Knocks – which began in 2001 – has never featured the Lions. The Indianapolis Colts were featured in 2021.

Detroit is entering its second season with head coach Dan Campbell leading the team. Despite a 3-13-1 record last season, Campbell remains intent on changing the culture and results moving forward.

One of the key storylines of training camp this season will be the work and growth of No. 2 overall pick Aidan Hutchinson. After coming through high school football in Michigan and stay in-state to play for Jim Harbaugh, the Lions were thrilled Hutchinson was available after the Jacksonville Jaguars went with Travon Walker in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The new season of Hard Knocks will debut on Aug. 9. Here is the trailer from the Lions:
