In an announcement on twitter this week, 2022 running back Gi’Bran Payne narrowed his list of prospective schools to seven, which includes four B1G programs.

The 5-foot-10, 190 lb. running back from Ohio listed Michigan, Northwestern, Penn State, and Purdue among his top-7 schools, with Alabama, Florida, and Notre Dame rounding out the list.

A 2020 MaxPreps Preseason Junior High School All-American second-team selection, Payne rushed for 790 yards and nine touchdowns, catching eight passes for 141 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games during the 2019 season for LaSalle High School.

Also playing on the other side of the ball as a linebacker he had 41 tackles, 28 solo, and four sacks.

Payne is currently rated the No. 16 running back and the No. 159 overall player in the country, per 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He has seen limited action since Sept. 11 due to an ankle injury, but this last weekend had one carry for two yards as he is working his way back to full strength. In the last five games, he has 11 carries for 42 yards.
