Next week’s B1G Tournament is shaping up to be an incredible one, and the bracket was re-shuffled a bit following two big games Wednesday evening.

We are at the point of the season where every single game takes on renewed importance. That is no more important than for bubble teams – like Maryland – or teams fighting for seeding entering the conference tournament.

Over the evening, the Terrapins stumbled late in a loss to Northwestern. It snapped a strong winning streak for Maryland as the team continues to claw toward an NCAA Tournament appearance.

The other game from Wednesday saw Penn State blow out Minnesota in Happy Valley, continuing the Gophers’ ugly skid to end the season. It flip-flopped the two teams in the B1G standings which could play a big role in next week’s conference tournament in Indianapolis.

In the updated bracket, Penn State rises to No. 11 and a first-round showdown with No. 14 Nebraska to start the week. After the loss, Minnesota falls to No. 12 and would face No. 13 Northwestern in the opening round.

Maryland’s loss also dropped the Terps from No. 7 to No. 8 in the standings, switching spots with Rutgers in the process. In the updated standings, Maryland would be a No. 8 seed and square off in a rematch against No. 9 seed Michigan State in the second round next Thursday. That game would potentially carry huge ramifications as both teams try to stay off the bubble and in the NCAA Tournament.
