High school football player reportedly dies from injury sustained in Friday night game
A high school football player from the Atlanta area has died from an injury sustained in a game on Friday night, according to a report.
WSB-TV 2 in Atlanta is reporting that Dylan Thomas passed away after sustaining a head injury in a game Friday night. According to the report, he suffered brain swelling after a hit and was taken by ambulance to the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

He was listed in “very critical condition.”
It remains unclear where Thomas suffered the hit. From WSB-TV 2:
It is unclear where the 16-year-old was hit, but family members told Channel 2 the defensive tackle seemed unfazed by the collision until the second half.
“I heard that he was saying that you know he wasn’t really feeling right and that’s when his left leg and left arm went numb and he pretty much fell off the bench,” his uncle Nick Burgess told Channel 2’s Michael Seiden.
Family, friends and teammates gathered for a vigil while Thomas was in the hospital on Sunday. The Pike County varsity football team carried his jersey onto the field where the vigil was held.
