History was made in B1G men's basketball this week
History was made in the B1G on Monday night.
According to the B1G office, Crystal Hogan became the first female to officiate a B1G men’s basketball regular season game. She was in Evanston for Monday night’s matchup between Northwestern and Illinois-Springfield.

The Wildcats won the game 90-50 to improve to 8-2 on the season. The official Twitter account of Northwestern’s men’s basketball program tweeted out the historical moment.

During the 2019-20 season, Hogan was the only female to officiate a Division I men’s basketball game of over 900 officials. She did not referee any B1G games last year.
That changed early in the 2021-22 season.
We’ll see if Hogan officiates any other B1G games during the year.
