For a number of reasons, the quarterback position is going to get a lot of attention across the B1G in 2017. Whether its handling expectations, adapting to a new offense, or battling for a starting role, folks are going to be glued to football’s most important position this season.

But some quarterbacks are going to draw more attention than others. Some are just more interesting than others.

Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports went to the hassle of sorting that out for everyone. But he didn’t peg just the most intriguing quarterbacks in the B1G, he included every gunslinger in the nation.

Four from the B1G made his top 25 list:

  • No. 5 J.T. Barrett, Ohio State
  • No. 10 Trace McSorley, Penn State
  • No. 23 Wilton Speight, Michigan
  • No. 24 Clayton Thorson, Northwestern

All four of quarterbacks were starters last season and all will be entering their junior or senior season.

Barrett and McSorley are seen as potential Heisman Trophy candidates this season, while Speight and Thorson will be expected to elevate their game to another level. That, alone, is enough to warrant their place on this list. But why did Forde select these four from the B1G?

Forde is interested to see what Barrett can do with Kevin Wilson as the offensive coordinator. He’s fascinated by McSorley’s ability to extend plays despite his small stature at the position.

And for Speight and Thorson? Forde is impressed with the strides each has made over the last two seasons and is interested to see how they progress in 2017.

Those all seem like legitimate reasons to keep an eye on each quarterback this fall.
