Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard is going to be a popular man among the Big 12, B1G and Pac-12 fanbases today. He had no trouble slamming the SEC with a tweet on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin fired off a tweet in search of a home-and-home series against a Power Five opponent. It was an interesting way to go about attempting to add another interesting football game to schedule, one that gained plenty of attention.

“Attention ADs from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 or Pac 12,” Stricklin wrote, “[Florida] is looking to add additional Home-and-Home series against P5 opponents. Let’s connect and schedule quality games the fans wat to see!”

That tweet generated plenty of response, but one of the best was from Pollard.

“We already play 10 P5 games every year (9 conference games plus Iowa),” Pollard wrote back. “Maybe the SEC should play 9 conference games like the Big 12 Conference.”

The SEC’s eight-game schedule has come under scrutiny as three power conferences have shifted to a nine-game conference format. But because the SEC continues to reach the College Football Playoff, it’s unlikely the SEC shifts that direction anytime soon.

Pollard’s response was one that a lot of fans will appreciate. Except those in the SEC, of course.
