Iowa has sold out yet another game this season, not surprising considering the Hawkeyes’ success in 2018-19 and the fact that this game will be Homecoming.

We know that Hawkeye faithful are quick to make the pilgrimage to Kinnick Stadium for big games — heck, they’ll show up for small games as well — and this one certainly fits the bill.

Iowa, riding a two-game winning streak, is ranked for the first time in the 2018 season, checking in at No. 18. The Hawkeyes are 5-1 and 2-1 overall in Big Ten play, and they’ve got a chance to snag another statement win against a Big Ten opponent. Coming into town is Maryland, which is 4-2 and also 2-1 in conference.

The Terrapins were the talk of the offseason (in a bad way) due to the unfortunate death of lineman Jordan McNair and the investigation into suspended coach DJ Durkin and the “toxic” culture of the football program, but on the field, Maryland has been pretty good.  Sure, the Terps did lose to Temple and Michigan — the latter which was expected — but they also beat Texas to start the season, so they can be tough.

Iowa comes into the game with a loss only to Wisconsin, so the Hawkeyes are still well in the running to take over the Big Ten West — and from there anything can happen.

According to the Iowa athletic department, the Homecoming game is Iowa’s fourth sellout in five games this season.
