According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Mathews is a 4-star prospect and the No. 24 ATH nationally for the class of 2023. He is also the No. 9 player out of the state of Ohio for the cycle.
As things currently stand, the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions are battling it out for the top recruiting class in the B1G. Ohio State has launched up to the No. 2 recruiting class nationally and tops in the conference after adding a pair of 5-star receivers this week.
Right behind the Buckeyes is Penn State with the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation. The Nittany Lions recently added 4-star DL Tomarrion Parker out of Alabama who hinted at more good news to come on the recruiting trail.
