LSU was supposed to beat Oklahoma. The Vegas line settled at the Tigers being 13.5-point favorites.

However, it wasn’t that close of a game. The Tigers beat the Sooners 63-28. It was the most points scored by any team in College Football Playoff history (previous high was Oregon with 59 against Florida State in 2015.

Joe Burrow, the LSU quarterback — and former Ohio State Buckeye — had seven touchdowns passing in the first half.

You read that right.

He accounted for eight scores in the game as he rushed for another to start the third quarter. He finished completing 29-of-39 passes for 493 yards and seven throwing scores. He had over 400 yards in the first half alone.

That’s how bad it was for the Sooners’ defense Saturday night. And because of that, Oklahoma’s season came to a close. LSU, of course, moves on to the National Championship.

The Tigers now await the winner of the other College Football Playoff semifinal game between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Clemson. That game between the Buckeyes and (Clemson) Tigers is set for an 8 p.m. ET start time Saturday on ESPN.
